Correct me if im wrong....clones are taken, dipped in rootgel, places in peat pellets and then put in humidity dome for 7-14 days until roots grow....

Can anything be used as a humidity dome, Could any clear container work?

What kind of lighting under the dome?

Do i just keep the dome on the whole time? open it for airflow? or whats the deal?

what other things am i missing....

theres no shortage of ways to clone thats for sure. If all you have to use is peat pellets then they will do, but look for better next time, like V said rapid rooters are easy right out of the bag. These next things are what are really important...
1. Take cuts off only healthy plants
2. Place the cuts directly in water while your taking them.
3. trim your cuts and cut sun leaves in half, use a SHARP, STERILE razor to cut a 45 degree angle at the node
4. dip in root gel, place in pellet
5. do not let the ambient air inside the dome get over 75 if possible and never let the soil or whatever medium you use get over 80 degrees or you will greatly decrease your chance of success because most likely molds will win that battle.
6. mist clones daily, probably need to water them lightly daily too with pellets, give them some fresh air daily too.
7. 18 hours of flouro light is plenty, you don't need much light, the plants aren't really doing anything but recovering from shock and trying to stay alive long enough to make roots.

All that being said I would highly suggest looking into making your own aero-cloner, success is usually much higher and less headache, lots of good threads out there, do a search, if you can't find it here search google. DIY aerocloner, then have fun, good luck to you. I added some pics here, this is my aerocloner, it seat only 4 but they always all root and its all I need, I just took these clones an hour ago, atomic northern lights, see how I trimmed the sun leaves, also note no humidity dome at all because I dipped them in anti-wilt which is a great product. Also note the clip light which has a 23 watt cfl in it, on an 18 hour timer. Inside the cloner is olivias and aquashield to help prevent molds, you can use aquashield in other mediums too, that way if the temps spike a little you should be safe. good luck man

All right guys and gals, I am about to make another investment in a cloner because my redneck ass isnt very good at it manually. I took 13 cuttings and lost 4 and thats not cuttin the mustard! Here is the deal I want to do a DIY because well hell dont we all want to save money? The problem is I keep hearing about building one for 60 bucks or 30 or whatever but the timer required is kind of salty right? Do you really need a timer or can you let it run 24/7? I found a commercial cloner for 120.00 thats a 25 site. Do you still need a timer with commercial cloners? So heres the big question what should I do, purchase a commercial rig or DIY? I value all of your opinons and advice so please weigh in!!! Thanks, Peace!!!

I myself do not use a timer on mine, I let it run all the time. Where you might run into trouble with that is if the pump your using creates too much heat for the water and brings the temps up over 80, mine I used just the right amout of pump for the misters, which is 25-30 gph per mister. if your doing a 25 site, you probably need 12 misters so figure a 396gph pump, you can pick up an eco-plus pump that works well for 22 bucks online. If temps become an issue, then you might need a timer, and from what i know about commercial units, they can run a little warmish too, which will reduce success greatly, might as well build your own for 50 bucks. If you need a timer use an eco-plus 15 minute interval timer, run the pump full for the first two days so the clones stabilize, then run 15 on and 15 off till you have roots, the clones stems will still have water on them during the rest and they will not wilt or die if they arent constantly sprayed, my buddy does it this way because his pump will heat the water to 85 if he runs it full, by alternating he gets 76 degrees, almost ideal, also I highly suggest picking up some aquashield for your tank, keeps molds and disease in control.. Peace

No timer needed for a cloner, I agree. So long as res. temps are controlled youll be fine!

Peace

What concentration do you run Olivias at? I have some and it says 6oz. per gallon. I mixed it and got over 400ppm, now I use 4oz. per gallon and seems to work fine but don't notice and improved performance. It seems like its just expensive seaweed to me
